ANICONICS:ICON KILLERS (a cura di Camilla Boemio)
È stata un sex symbol. È scomparsa l’8 febbraio scorso in circostanze misteriose.

“For me, initially, there is the body.
And that what we are, is that what we have.
We are all actors who get agitated
In the scenes of life and the first thing that
We have are our physical bodies”
David Cronenberg
Apotheosis of a mutilated contemporary body is the icon’s body:
dreamed of, desired, longed for by the masses, by the powerful, one nourishes and lives for the merit of others, like the hunter Diana is, in the visible world, compelled to put on a demoniac body which protects her and allows her to hunt.
The body has always been the fruit of my analysis since I wrote the research essay “Rebellious Body”. The woman without body “arriving to outline connections on the feminine body from the 18th century to contemporary art.
ANICONICS ICON KILLERS was born for combination, for synergy of intents of the desire to see how a theme develops, a split prism of video-art which arrives to space out with different ways of speaking. Ten artists that present works that are incisive, complementary, some inedited, functional from one to the other from: Marina Ballo Charmet to Jrocco Dubbini to Gaston Ramirez to unexpected screenings related to the cartoons of the young Rak and Scop to Riccardo Arena, Stefano Ronci, Giuliano Lombardo to Sebastiano Mauri to Emiliano Montanari with his video which is the heart of the event from which the various connections with Floria Sigismondi, oneiric Canadian artist, take their form, and also an unexpected participation of the film maker Asia Argento.
Video art as the cell of capillary creativity, propelling and capable to connect in a multifaceted way with cinema, clearing the cracks between disciplines, expanding the expressive starting points and reminiscences.
We are all users of images as a serial, unconsciously we feed off big media binges.
The language of images is social communication favoured by the spectacalization which each authority has used, extending it on a global scale, it becomes impossible to escape from the ramification of the mechanism which takes the individual to being put in a micro world where the images become part of one’s identity.
Video art re-edits the absorbed images, giving us new keys of looking at them.
The generation of young artists that nowadays bring themselves into play ‘ the barricades is possibly the most innovative generation in the language that has been created over past decades, internationally capable of tainting other languages arriving to scratch bedded clichés.
Let’s nourish ourselves with these images that belong to us, that satiate our recreational taste and that make our soothed perceptions float, providing us keys of perception which only contemporary art in this moment has the courage to confront.
